Our Ministries

Our current ministries include:

  • Sunday Intercessory Prayer
    • During each Sunday worship service members of the Intercessory Prayer Team (usually two) are in the Prayer Room covering that service with prayer. They will pray, as the Holy Spirit leads them, for every aspect of the service and will receive the prayer requests that are collected during the service to begin praying for the expressed needs. These team members are scheduled to pray either once a month or four times a year and can choose either the first for the second service.

  • Interdenominational Prayer Group
    •  Prayer Group:Every Tuesday night (except when Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Tuesday) a group of 40-50 men and women gather to pray for others, our nation and each other.   Over the 34 years we have been meeting we have seen many wonderful answers to prayer.  The interdenominational group, including Catholics meets on Tuesday night from 7:30-9:00 in First United Methodist Church.  Come and join us in prayer for our entire world. God hears and answers prayer!

  • Email Prayer Chain: Each week a list of prayer concerns is compiled from the requests collected during the services and those sent to the church office. This list is sent to individuals in the church who have signed up and are committed to praying for these concerns during the week. The list is also available in the gathering area of the church and on the alter in the prayer room.

  • Nathaniel Mission Clinic Prayer
    • Volunteers are available during clinic hours to pray for and with the patients being attended, the staff and the healing ministry of the clinic. Volunteers can be scheduled once a month and morning or afternoon hours are available.

  • Praying for Our Military Men and Women
    • Prayers are offered up for our military men and women through our prayer ministries.  A list of individuals we are naming in prayer resides in our Prayer Room and there are lists to take away in our Gathering Hall.  The list is available upon request and we invite you to add your loved ones to the list.

  • Other activities
    • Participation with other local UMC Churches in National Day of Prayer
    • Prayer vigils
